Whistling past

66th birthday yesterday, good time for another Memento Mori spin thru Evergreen Cemetery near campus. Nice place to visit, but…

  1. Happy Belated Birthday! I love that you do this as well. Is Memento Mori what it is called to just stroll through graveyards in respect? I know it's latin for rememberance of own's death. My family has always done this. I have visited Bon Adventure in Savannah GA. It is very beautiful and LARGE. I think people see death as a contravesial topic. I don't think it should have such a negative connitation. As it is a reality of life. I practice respect of those passed while strolling with my family. We clean up plots, fix or bring attention to broken headstones, and place flowers on ones that seem unvisited or older. There are many cultures that celebrate death and isn't seen as a solemn event. I think we find ourselves so disconnected from those before us, and it saddens me to think that so many plots haven't been visited by loved ones in years.
